The tawny eagle's diet is largely fresh carrion of all kinds, but it will kill small mammals up to the size of a rabbit, reptiles and birds up to the size of guinea fowl. Verreaux's eagle-owl is at or near the top of the food chain and healthy adults have no natural predators. It is highly unusual for tawny eagle to catch a bird of its same size. Copyright AVP©2014.
