前言
几年前,在电子游戏行业里有个时髦的词叫做“跨媒体”。顾名思义,它是指游戏产业横跨多领域(游戏、电视剧、电影、周边书籍等)的大阶段。人人都对这个超前的点子兴奋不已;而其涉及面广泛的特性也对娱乐业格局产生了深远的影响,同时改变了我们消费媒体的方式。
回首当下,显然只有很少的工作室能顺利高举起这个推动世界发展的“圣杯”。随着预算的高涨,很少有人会在建造新世界这方面孤注一掷。可育碧做到了—《刺客信条》横空出世并大获成功,引领了新时代的潮流。
直言不讳吧,我们生活在密切相联的数字时代—一个令人心烦不定的时代。总有几样东西会分散我们的注意力,好比说社会媒体和移动设备。当今世上,作为一个有创意的制作人,他总得试着创造出精妙的游戏世界,毕竟玩家可不是能随意打发的对象—话说,一个人总不能和随意“约会”的对象结婚吧!俗言“条条大路通罗马”,可我觉得最棒的一条“路”就是去创造出相当有深度的游戏世界,深到甚至得动用一支“军队”才能梳理出其真相和细节。《刺客信条》可谓是优秀的集大成者,玩家要想真正理解和感悟-直到摸透它,可能需要几年时间!

A modern day order with an origin reaching back to the very dawn of time,the Assassins are a worldwide secret organization dedicated to preserving mankind’s right to freedom of choice.Their ideology is founded in the belief that only free will can ensure the betterment of humanity as a whole through the development of the individual,thus allowing for the birth of new ideas and innovations.Though it is acknowledged by the Order that free will comes with a price and potentially dangerous consequences,the risks involved are considered to be minor compared to the threat of losing all free will.
现代刺客的历史最早可追溯到远古时期。刺客是一个致力于维护人类自由的秘密组织，范围广布世界，其理念认为只有自由才能确保人类社会通过个人发展实现整体进步，诞生新的思想和观念。尽管刺客组织确知自由来之有价，亦有可能带来危险的后果，然而在丧失自由意志的威胁面前，为自由所付的相应代价应是次要的。

The Order does not expect perfection from humanity—after all,only through learning from mistakes can there be growth—but rather hopes to see it pursue the dream of one day reaching perfection through free self-expression and an open source attitude towards knowledge.It is this very ideology which set them in direct opposition to the Templars throughout their intertwined history ,pitting them against a powerful mirror organization which believes that the best way for humanity to survive is to save it from itself through the sublimation of free will.
组织对人类的期望并非完美，毕竟只有从失败中学习才能成长——刺客组织希望人类求其梦想，通过自由的个体追求和知识的开放，有朝一日趋近完美。这一观点之理想化使得刺客组织直接站到了实力强大的圣殿组织的对立面，而后者认为能够使人类长久存活在世上的最好方式只有剔除其自由意志，因此二者在历史上争斗不断。
While the Templars usually insinuated themselves into high levels of society,obtaining key roles and high-ranking supporters,the Assassins instead relied on stealth and secrecy,though not without acquiring influential allies and members of their own.People such as Leonardo da Vinci,Cartarina Sforza and Marco Polo to name but a few strongly supported the Order.Several influential historical figures also counted among the Order’s active members, such as Marcus Junius Brutus,Gaius Cassius Longinus,Dante Alighieri and Niccolò Machiavelli.
圣殿常以社会高层自居，控制着关键角色和高阶层的支持者，而刺客则相对依赖隐蔽与秘密行动，不过同样获得过具有重要影响力的盟友及刺客组织成员的协助，例如莱昂纳多·达·芬奇，卡特琳娜·斯福扎和马可·波罗等，他们皆是对组织极少数有力支持的人。几位极具影响力的历史人物也属于组织的积极分子，比如马库斯·朱尼厄斯·布鲁图斯，盖尤斯·卡修斯·朗基努斯，但丁·阿利吉耶里和尼科洛·马基雅维利。
Despite working from the shadows,their reputation was oft known among the general populace of a given area.However,the ever-growing presence of the Templars among powerful corporations slowly but steadily drove the members of the Order to take refuge in remote compounds.This resulted in the Assassins keeping themselves out of the sight and Ken of a world which gradually forgot about their existence.
尽管刺客们梨于黑暗，但他们在特定地区的普通民众之中有一定的知名度。然而，圣殿骑士在权势强大的企业中的存在感不断增长，虽说缓慢却一步一步地驱使组织成员在较为偏远的地区寻求庇护所。这导致刺客们将自己隐藏于公众视线之外, 并逐渐被公众遗忘。
Though they are not today that which they once were,the Assassins still work from the shadows and attempt to pursue their mandate, while evading the Templars’ relentless pursuit.
