舒伯特（Franz Schubert（1797-1828）），出生於奧地利維也納近郊的里赫田塔爾（Riechtenthal），父親是小學教師兼業餘音樂家，母親為家庭主婦，兄弟姐妹中僅5人存活至成年。
自幼隨父兄學習小提琴和鋼琴，7歲起師從教堂樂隊長學習音樂理論。
11歲考入維也納宮廷樂團寄宿學校，接觸莫紮特（Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart1756-1791）、海頓（Franz Joseph Haydn1732-1809）等古典樂派作品，奠定音樂基礎。
16歲創作《第一交響曲》（D.82 Symphony No.1 D major），展露非凡天賦。
17歲擔任小學教師，
18歲迎來創作高峰（如1815年創作144首歌曲）。
20歲辭職成為自由藝術家，專注作曲，但一生貧困潦倒，依靠友人接濟。
1828年11月19日,因傷寒病（typhoid fever）逝於維也納（Vienna），年僅31歲。
舒伯特在短暫生涯中，創作超過1000部作品，包括：
