phonetics can be seen as a vehicle for one’s language ability.with a view to strengthening college students' listening and speaking skills ，to improve their ability to practise and to use as well as to socialize with the language ，phonetics teaching should be regarded as ,currently,an impotant part of english teaching .much attention should be paid the negative influence imposed by dialect to get rid of incorrect prounciation habit ,thus laying a solid foundation for prounciation.

phonetics learning is basic and crucial to chinese students' english learning.however,at present,their mastery of phonetics is far from satisfactory .aamong all the factors that influent chinese students' learning of english ,the hiderance and interruption of their mother tongue to the learner's phonetics learning can not be overlooked
