That would be much too long to cite here all the French victories since the country exists (probably no other countries can equal the number of victories of France in History). But just some real facts on the wars mentioned here:
                WWI:
1914 Battle of the Frontiers - August 14th-24th
French and British forces fall to the Germans.
1914 First Battle of the Marne - September 5th-10th
A Franco-British (largely French) force led by Joseph Joffre and John French defeat Germany led by Helmuth von Moltke and Karl von Bulow.
1914 First Battle of the Aisne - September 12th-15th
French and British troop actions end in a draw with the Germans.
                1914 Battle of Champagne
France earn a draw against Germany.
                1915 Third Battle of Artois - September 15th-November 4th
France and Britain earn a draw against Germany and Crown Prince Rupprecht.
                1916 Battle of Verdun
Casualties mount on both sides but French forces ultimately push back the German tide.
                1916 Battle of the Somme - July 1st-November 18th
The battle, like many others in World War I, results in a draw between French and German forces.
                1917 Second Battle of the Aisne - April 16th-May 9th, October 24th
The French take 187,000 casualties of their 850,000-strong commitment against 163,000 German casualties with an overall strength of 480,000, the enemy forces holding Chemin des Dame ridge.
1918 Second Battle of the Marne
A French-led force beats back the German advance with help from British, Italian and American forces.
1918 Third Battle of the Aisne - May 27th-June 6th
French, British and American forces halt the German advance.
So clearly, French were fighting since the beginning and won battles long before americans came much later (towards the end actually)
                WWII:
                France casualties: total death: 550000
USA casualties: total death : 418500!!!
French Indochina? Okay but what about Vietnam? Who got kicked out in Vietnam?

Napoleon was from Corsica and the Foreign Legion is based on foreigners doing the fighting.

Because France got their arses handed to them really, really badly by Germany. Most people don''t quite realize that the world had literally never seen an attack that was anything like the Blitzkrieg. It completely bypassed the Maginot line (their defenses, basically) and hit them faster and harder than anything that had been done in history.
France actually has a very long and storied history of military power, not the least of which was Napolean who conquered most of Europe. Hell, they invented the code of Chivalry and had some of the best knights in Europe. The only way the English were able to defeat them most of the time was with their superior archers (and the superior English Long Bow), such as at the battle of Agincourt, yet the French still won that war (Hundred Years War).
So basically it comes from people with no real knowledge of history or tactics, who just remember that the French lost in WWII and don''t like to remember the fact that if it weren''t for the French during the American Revolution, we''d still be a part of the UK.

People who keep defending them and calling such jokes "ignorant" are just trying to be PC to not offend the French. Before their glorious "revolution", they were indeed a strong nation. After that, the only good thing they had was Napoleon, and after him, nothing but failure. That is why they are ridiculed.
