TROPICAL CYCLONE INFORMATION BULLETIN
Issued at 10:48 pm EST on Saturday 22 February 2025
At 10 pm AEST Saturday, a Tropical Low with central pressure 997 hPa was located
near latitude 14.8 south longitude 150.7 east, which is about 185 km north
northeast of Willis Island and 580 km east northeast of Cairns.
The low is moving east northeast at 12 kilometres per hour.
Tropical Low 22U is expected to continue to develop over the weekend while
moving slowly east. It is forecast to develop into a tropical cyclone on
Sunday.
During next week, the system is expected to turn southeast and then south while
continuing to strengthen. Considerable uncertainty exists in the track the
system will take beyond that, but there is a risk it will move closer to the
central Queensland coast late next week.
The next Information Bulletin will be issued by 5:00 am AEST Sunday 23 February.
